Linux Terminalserver

ISG D-HEST provides a Linux gateway as well as a Linux Terminalserver to which you can connect using X2Go (e.g. the X2Go Client for Windows, available in the APPV kiosk).

The gateway server is called "green-l-portal.ethz.ch", the Terminalserver is called "green-l-5.ethz.ch". The gateway server is mainly used just to access your data on your homedrive. The Terminalserver has several applications installed. PLEASE NOTE: Currently, you can access the Terminalserver green-l-5.ethz.ch only within the ETH network.

The procedure below shows how to configure the connections and how to connect to these machines. On the Linux machines, you can select several Desktop interfaces. The procedure described here is for the XFCE interface, which is recommended by ISG D-HEST.

Step-by-step procedure

  1. Subscribe to the "X2go" package in the APPV Software kiosk. Once it is available on your computer, start the program.

  4. In the Login field, enter your username.
