Remote Desktop

A Terminal Server is a computer that provides Terminal Server services. Applications are running on the Terminal server (i.e. not on the local computer), and just the display is forwarded to local computer. A Terminal Server can be used by several users simultaneously.

"RDS" (Remote Desktop Servers) is a collaborative infrastructure project based on Microsoft Remote Desktop Services and Application Virtualization Technologies. Its intent is to give all D-Biol, D-Gess, D-Hest and D-Mtec members access to a powerful, high-availability Windows-based remote desktop server infrastructure. The infrastructure is jointly operated and maintained by a team of IT responsibles from the stakeholder departments as well as ID members.

Users trying to connect to "RDS" the first time, should consult the user external pageUser documentation.

Note:

If you connect to the RDS system for the first time, you will get a new, separate Windows profile. Any settings that you previously had on e.g. the Watson system will not be automatically applied. However, you will keep the Application subscriptions that you made on app.ethz.ch for the Remote Desktop platform.
